How powerful is the Hongqi HS5?
Videos circulating on the internet show that the Chinese Hongqi HS5 has survived tests so extreme that it could be scrapped. In the videos posted on TikTok, the HS5 is first hit by a hard cannonball, similar to a fireball. However, only the side frame of the vehicle is penetrated.
In another test, the HS5 is seen driving through a double wall made of bricks. In one test, a hatchback was even dropped on top of a luxury SUV. Overcoming all this, the vehicle continues to operate and move under its own power.
However, some aspects of the test raised questions about its authenticity. For example, it is not clear what the fireball was made of. It is also not known whether repairs were made to the vehicle between the day and night shoots.
The Hongqi brand is manufactured in China for government officials. This means that the HS5 may have an armored chassis. Still, the fact that it survived the endurance test in the videos has aroused curiosity in the automotive world.
According to the information on Hongqi’s website, the luxury SUV has a 5V turbo engine capable of producing 340 Nm of torque. The price of the vehicle, which draws attention to comfort and durability, starts from 46 thousand dollars.
